Technical intern electronics and control

Are you passionate about technology and the environment? Our start-up in the green tech industry (heat pumps) is seeking enthusiastic individuals eager to gain hands-on experience and make a difference in the world of sustainable technology.

About GEHECO

At GEHECO we believe real physical tools are what we need in the energy transition. One of the big sources of CO2 is the heating of homes, and currently many home owners search for solutions how to electrify the heating of their homes. Today, the most efficient solution, the water- water heat pump is available only to a (rich) few. Our mission is to enable all home owners to heat their home with the superior water- water heat pumps, by solving it’s Achilles’ heel, which is the drilling of the well.

GEHECO is a start-up which focusses on laying the wells for water-water heat pumps in existing houses. In order to do so, we are designing a revolutionary new drill tool that is able to place the well, ultimately from within the home. GEHECO likes to actively contribute to the energy transition by helping our future clients in efficiently CO2 neutral heat their houses.

GEHECO is a young and forward-thinking company at the forefront of the heat pump technological innovation. At GEHECO, we value creativity, collaboration, and a commitment to pushing the boundaries of the status quo. Our commitment to sustainability, coupled with cutting-edge technology, drives us to create impactful and eco-friendly solutions.

Position: technical intern electronics and control

Key Responsibilities / What you will do:

  • Design and create control electronics; pragmatically create the control components and sensors (hardware) that allow the drill to be controlled automatically.
  • Develop the software to do the control. You will use Arduino’s, raspberry Pi’s to do so.
  • You will devise control strategies for optimizing the drilling process.
  • The electrical design now consists of electrical drives connected to the main power. Your first task will be to define and build an electrical design that allows the drives to be speed controlled (instead of on/off).
  • Test prototypes; you participate in frequent tests in order to validate your designs and designs other team mates come up with.
  • Collaboration; we are a small team where every individual counts. We need your analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to improve our product and drive our projects forward.
  • Engage in problem-solving exercises, learn by doing on a daily basis and contribute fresh perspectives to the development of the GEHECO product.

What you bring:

  • You are a pragmatic and enthusiastic individual pursuing a degree in Electrotechnical engineering, informatics, or related technical fields. (HBO, bachelor / electrical engineering)
  • Passion for making things work. Your practical talent to create a real, working prototype is what counts most in this assignment. You have a passion for making stuff work. Being able to analyze your work and come up with rapid solutions to improve it.
  • Pragmatism; what works works. Solutions do not have to be perfect, you need to be able to build control devices using Arduino, raspberry Pi, or similar platforms which actually connect to sensors and electric drives.
  • Skills; You have to have knowledge of relevant software and hardware, and are not scared of soldering, debugging memory addresses and PWM signals.
  • Digital skills; you need sufficient knowledge of relevant programming languages and tools
  • You are legally allowed to work in the Netherlands (EU resident or work permit)

Your personality:

  • You are flexible and able to cope with the uncertainties (and freedom!) of working at a start-up. Plans may change overnight; structures are not yet firmly in place. You need to deliver on the goal, but how you do it is very much up to you.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a desire to learn and grow in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong collaborative mindset willing to learn by experimenting and doing.
  • Passion for green technology and sustainability initiatives.

Why Choose GEHECO:

  • Improve your rapid prototyping skills
  • Receive practical training on several new machines (you will be using when building the prototypes).
  • Gain valuable hands-on experience in a start-up environment dedicated to sustainable tech solutions.
  • Mentorship from seasoned professionals (22+ years working experience).
  • Being part of a start-up community (Yes!Delft) with plenty networking opportunities and exposure to innovative technology.
  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge solutions in a super innovative and pragmatic setting.
  • Internship compensation is available.
  • Contribute to solutions that make a real difference in sustainability and the environment.
